A girl observed a woman in the grocery
store with a three year old girl in her bas-
ket. As they passed the cookie section, the
child asked for cookies and her mother
told her "No." The little girl immediately
began to whine and fuss, and the mother
said quietly, "Now Tina, we just have half
of the aisles left to go through; don't be
upset. It won't be long."

She passed the Mother again in the
candy aisle. Of course, the little girl began
to shout for candy. When she was told she
couldn't have any, she began to cry. The
mother said, "There, there, Tina, don't
cry. Only two more aisles to go, and then
we'll be checking out."

The girl again happened to be behind
the pair at the check-out, where the little
girl immediately began to clamor for gum,
and burst into a terrible tantrum upon
discovering there would be no gum pur-
chased today. The mother patiently said,
"Tina, we'll be through this check out
stand in five minutes, and then you can go
home and have a nice nap."

The girl followed them out to the park-
ing lot and stopped the woman to compli-
ment her. "I couldn't help noticing how
patient you were with little Tina..."

The mother broke in, "My little girl's
name is Tammy... I'm Tina."

This was a cute story. Yes, we've all experienced the need for DEEP BREATHING while in the grocery store!! (This is why I go at night, after all the kids are in bed - the store is virtually empty, and I can THINK!)

Thanks for the laughs Ellen!

Yes, this was a good laugh!

I have 2 hours with 4-year-old Ben prior to his 2 older siblings coming home from school, so I go to the grocery once a week with just Ben. We buy a snack for him to eat while we shop, and I have a preprinted list where I've checked off what we need, so it goes well... until I meet a friend and want to stop and chat! Lol!!

I try to go these days with only my 2.5 year old. My trick is to give them a healthy snack to eat just as we enter. This tends to help. I also allow them to pick out one thing....within our "sugar" limits. This usually appeases them.

And I leave the children home with hubby and go shopping with my mother.. I get time off and peace and the children get chips for dinner because hubby claims he cannot cook anything else, so everyone is happy!!
