Hi Debi,

I'm sorry you found the material rehashed; I'd found it enlightening. Perhaps your background as a teacher means that you have a solid foundation of knowledge that most of the rest of us do not.

BTW, there is a 60-day satisfaction guarantee- you don't want to pay for something that did not satisfy your needs!

I soooo wanted something new and different. This is nothing more than a rehash of Gardner styles of learning. Don't bother with the free chapters, it is 33 pages of promotionto buy the book.

Too bad....I had such high hopes.

Hi Julie, if your son can recall movies, then this will help, even if he is a grandfather! Read my comment below! (I'm off for the weekend, will get back to more questions on Monday!)

Would this help my college freshman? He has always struggled and college is proving to be especially difficult with the amount of material covered!

Hello Christine,

Yes, this method works particularly well for children with ADHD. Do your children remember movies and TV shows that they've watched? This method shows you how to make school facts and text into "movies" regarding your child's memory! Well, the book explains it better than I just did, but that's a fair one-sentence summary of a 200 page book!

Does this method help children who have learning difficulties, memory issues and ADHD? Both my youngest children have been diagnosed, one with ADHD and the other with mild intellectual disability with memory issues. It would be great to give them the confidence needed to succeed in school. Both try hard but struggle even with modified lessons.

As a special education teacher, I use all types of teaching strategies and assessment strategies to try to reach all of my students strengths. What a difference it makes! Doing a test orally instead of written to compensate for fine motor skills could easily benefit a whole class for a change of pace. A marking scheme can bee a rubric as the students pair up and answer questions to each other. The teacher walks around and listens in. Students mark each other on the rubric and teacher has anecdotal notes. There's a unique assessment style which is just as viable as a pen and pencil test.

These kinds of more differentiated learning assessments need to take place. Differentiated learning is becoming a big deal in our school board in Canada.

I am a fifth grade teacher in a Private Catholic School. i agree that schools need to address the whole issue of identifying learning styles at the start of the school year and then work to differentiate not just assessments, but also teaching strategies to engage more students right off the bat. I like learning-styles-online free 70 question survey to do a learning styles inventory for each child. That is a good starting point. The other thing I do usually in the first 2 or 3 days of a new school year is have the students make a 4X6 index card as a business card of what they consider themselves to be an expert at already. I put the cards in a 4X6 photo album, so they can see all the talents we share in the class. Need help in Math? Reading? look at which classmates are good at those things and could help you! Also builds a great classroom atmosphere and cooperative learning attitude from day one. Can you tell I love my kids and teaching?

Marlene, good luck with your Elisabeth- she is fortunate to have such a thoughtful mother. You won't be disappointed with the book, I promise!

Ever wonder why we remember movies so much better than books? Children, too, can recall the storyline of TV shows and movies much more accurately than they can recall text they've read. This book teaches you how to make things into "movies" in children's minds- it's a simple yet powerful process.

How do you always send emails on just the right day? Seriously, we have recently hired a tutor for our very bright son. I have just ordered this ebook based on your recommendation, and I'll read it on the train to work tomorrow.

I agree, schools cater to one particular type of smarts. My daughter has been tested and has above average IQ, yet school is so challenging for her.

I will check out this book- it may just be the answer to my prayers!

Marlene, proud mom of Elisabeth- 8
