Go ahead… you deserve a laugh!
Oh my, I just shared this with my husband and we both could not stop laughing!
Wish I could think as fast as she speaks!
Thanks, I really needed to laugh this afternoon.
Sincerely,
Susan
ROTFLOL!!!! This is the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time!!!:)
This is even making the rounds on Face Book. Everyone should watch this for some levity. Enjoy, and keep laughing.
Did this lady know my mom? She said everything on that song! Hysterical!
LOL! This is really a good one! Thanks for adding laughter to our lives!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I watched this with my twelve-year-old son; now he knows I’m NOT the only mom who says those things.
(And he thought it was really good.)
My mother constantly said, “If all your friends would jump off the roof, would you jump too?”
I must send this to here, lol:)
This was funny. While I don’t agree with the statement about giving them something to cry about, I did find myself laughing and remembering my mother. LOL
I heard her sing this at the Women of Faith conference this year and it was just as funny now as it was then! THank you!
This is hilarious! I cannot believe how much of what she says I heard as a kid…. and now sound like my mom!
) Laughter is truly the best medicine. What a great end to my day! Thank you!!!!!
Thank You for the Laugh! I laughed so loud, my four year old came running and asked me why I was laughing. I am one of seven children, so sometimes my Mom DID sound like that.
Thanks again.
[…] Thanks to www.raisingsmallsouls.com for passing this one on to us. […]
loved it…thank you…there really is a mom handbook
Absolutely hilarious!
My mom was really into the “Because I said so” thing! EVERYTHING ended with “because I said so”!
OMG! This is all… SO TRUE!! Well, you can’t live without mom’s for long. But it would be nice while it lasted!
Here’s a new one…I cried my eyes out through the whole thing. (Wonder where that came from…!) It is fantastic, and I will share it with every mother I know! Thanks, Ellen, for finding that and bringing it to us.
I loved it, Laughed out loud. I would love to hear all the words, she speaks so fast I can’t catch it all. Anyway the words can be printed?
Kathy
that was fantastic! found the lyrics at:
http://www.squidoo.com/anitarenfroelyrics/
Absolutely hilarious! Cos half way round the world (Singapore), everything on that song’s amazingly familiar!
Some contextual differences, yes. But otherwise, the words all match!
And the scary thing is, it sounds like my Mom, but it also sounds like me! Screaming, nagging, reminding, … my own kids!
Thanks for the laugh!
I really needed it!
I’m switching from Coke / Coffee / Nibbly pick-me-ups to this clip!
How absolutely perfect, right down to the classical music! When my kids were pre-teens they cut back their near constant ‘why’ or ‘why not’, when I started responding in a not-so lovely soprano voice..’be eeeee eeeee cause I said sooooo’. Now they can see it was all pretty normal!
Terrific, so funny and absolutely true. I would like to learn the words so I can sing the appropriate parts to my children when needed.
Does anyone know who the woman singing is?
Really enjoy receiving your updates as they give me what to think about and put some perspective in my daily hectc lives
Loved it!!
She might want to consider a teacher version of the song. I’m sure there’s plenty of fodder for that possibility.
Brilliant, There wasn’t one of those things I haven’t said.
Now I’m going to practice my singing and maybe then my son will get it or at least we can all have a laugh !
Wow, this is terrific! My daughter loved it as well:) (she’s 14)
Made me laugh. All those phrases my mum used and now I am using - and have tried so hard not to but they are all essential
Bravo!!! How true it is. She did a wonderful job! I truly needed the laugh and I can’t wait to share this with my kids. When they watch this, they will see that I am a perfectly normal MOM!! Thanks for sharing.
Want to learn this song (and sing it to your friends/kids/whoever?) Here are the lyrics.
Thank you, whoever wrote this!!!
The Mom Song
–by ???–
-to the tune of “The William Tell Overture”-
Get up now, get up now, get up out of bed;
Wash your face, brush your teeth, comb your sleepy head;
Here’s your clothes, here’s your shoes, hear the words I said,
Get up now, get up and make you bed!
Are you hot, are you cold are you wearing that?
Where’s your gloves and your coat and your homework at?
Don’t forget, you’ve got to feed the cat!
Eat your breakfast, the experts tell us it’s the most important meal of all;
Take your vitamins so that you’ll grow up one day to be big and tall.
Please remember the orthodontist will be seeing you at three today;
Don’t forget your piano lesson is this afternoon so you can play!
Don’t shovel; chew slowly but hurry, the bus is here!
Be careful, come back here, did you wash behind your ears?
Play outside, don’t be rough, will you just play fair;
Be polite, make a friend, don’t forget to share.
Work it out, wait your turn, never take a dare;
Get along; don’t make me come down there!
Clean your room, fold your clothes, put your stuff away;
Make your bed, do it now, do we have all day?
Were you born in a barn? Would you like some hay?
Can you even hear a word I say?
Answer the phone, get off the phone!
Don’t sit so close, turn it down,
No texting at the table.
No more computer time tonight!
Your ipod’s my ipod if you don’t listen up.
Where’re you going and with whom
And what time are you coming home?
Saying, “thank you”, “please”, “excuse me”
Makes you welcome anywhere you roam.
You’ll appreciate my wisdom someday
When you’re older and you’re grown;
I can’t wait ‘til you have a couple little children of your own!
You’ll thank me for the counsel I gave you so willingly;
But right now, I’ll thank you not to roll your eyes at me!
Close your mouth when you chew, I’d appreciate;
Take a bite, maybe two of the stuff you hate;
Use your fork, do not burp or I’ll set you straight;
Eat the food I put upon your plate.
Get an “A”, get the door, don’t get smart with me
Get a grip, get it here, I’m gonna count to three;
Get a job, get a life, get a PhD, get a ….
I don’t care if it’s started, you’re grounded
Until you’re 36
Get your story straight and tell the truth
For heaven’s sake;
And, if all your friends jumped off a cliff,
Would you jump too?
If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it at least a thousand times before
That you’re too old to act this way;
It must be your father’s DNA.
Look at me when I am talking,
Stand up straight when you walk.
A place for everything and everything must be in place;
Stop crying or I’ll give you something real to cry about!
Brush your teeth, wash your face, get your PJ’s on;
Get in bed, get a hug, say a prayer with Mom;
Don’t forget, I love you (smack!);
A-a-a-a-nd tomorrow we will do this all again
Because, for moms, it never ends.
You don’t need the reason why;
Because, because, because, because!
I said so, I said so, I said so!
I’m the Mom! I’m the Mom!
The Mom, the Mom, the Mom!
The Mom!
Ta da-a-a-a-a!
Thank you! that was hilarious! It was just what I needed today!
The lady’s name is Anita Renfroe. She is a Christian comedian. You can check out some of her other work at www.anitarenfroe.com
that was great!! she deserves an award for that!! She came up with all the things we say as moms. Great Job!!
Hilarious! I wish I could think as fast as she sings
Now that will get you moving in the morning to the beat of daily life. Exceptional performance with a hilarious finale..Thx,
Excellent!!!
This is so Funny. ROFLMBO. too too Cute. Darn I sure can relate to what she is singing too( Oh I Am So Embarrassed!!!!)
I can hear my grandmother and mother saying those exact words…and now it’s me!! Thanks so much for the laugh.
Oh my god, I laughed so hard I cried! She’s brilliant! Can’t wait to send it to all my mom friends…and I’m gonna print out the song so I can sing it to my daughter! Thanks Lewis for printing the words here!
AMEN!!! Sister!
PURE GENIUS!
wow! thats all i can say! =)
wow!
This is the funniest funny my friends have ever circulated. I laughed till I cried. It just proves mums have more in common than they have differences no matter where we all come from. i bet if you translated it into pretty near any language any mum would feel the same.
Brilliant. What else does this genius singer do?
Amazing! Lots of truth in her song - it’s hilarious but it really makes one think of all a mom does say in a day.
Thanks for printing the words. Will get the music and learn to sing it for my family. I am a grandma with teenage grandchildren. This is very appropriate. Thanks.
There was an add below about curing exema (spelling probably wrong) I would like to receive that if possible.
omg love it and yes I’m gonna learn it too and sing it to my kids all moms should learn this
She speaks very quick . She only use 2:55 to perform this performance
She took the words right out of my mouth! I think I have honestly said every one of those phrases, as a Mother of five children. I LOVE it!!
Absolutely hilarious!
I am going to link to this and post it on my blog, hope that’s ok
I just have to share it!
I am thinking I will just make my kids watch this every morning and save us all some time LOL
Very well said, no one could have said it better, as to how kids should mind their parent’s.
This is the second time I’ve watched this. It just gets better. Some things never change. We should think of each other as we make our way through the day, We laughed until we cried. She is my hero.
Allene
This is really funny, but as a mom of 2 1/2 year old twin boys it just reminds me of all of the “fun” I have to look forward to!
I DO NOT HAVE TO GO THROUGH THAT BUT I KNOW PEOPLE THAT DO AND THAT WAS REALLY FUNNY. THANKS THAT WAS REALLY FUNNY. I CAN REMEMBER MY MOM DOING ME LIKE THAT.
[…] […]
i played this for my 11yr old son..he laughed and said “that is soo true”!!!
