Plastic Cup Activity for Children!

My 5-year-old did this in school today, and came home and we did it all afternoon! It’s a great activity for parents to do with bored school-age children, and the supplies are all handy!
Give a child a regular plastic disposable cup, and some markers.
The child colors the sides and the bottom. Often, we wrote their names on the bottom (holding the cup upside-down)
Then, place a sheet of foil in the oven, turn to 350 degrees, and put the cup standing upside down on the foil for 1-2 minutes. My children LOVED watching through the window as the cup melted down.
Remove the cup, which is now a hard, flat circular disk, and punch a hole in it- instant keychain or decoration!
This activity kept the whole family busy all day, and at a cent per cup, the activity cost about 30 cents, lol!

If you use styrofoam cups – they make small cowboy hats, only use a lower temp in the oven.
My mom collects hats and a friend of hers made her a hat tree with little styrofoam cup hats. If you can remove them and various stages they can be made into all sorts of hats. Paint add feathers, sequins, ribbons, etc.
Red hat ladies might like one as a remembrance! Especially if they volunteer at the school, library or in some other way!
